Charles
A. Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville, NC began
their transition from a typical small rural hospital
to a "patient-centered
care" facility by becoming a Planetree affiliate in
2002. Sallie Woodring, Director of Support Services/Hospitality
for Cannon describes how she found Sereneview and how
the curtains have made an impact on everyone.
Our journey with
Sereneview curtains started at the Planetree conference
of 2003, hosted in Seattle. When I saw your curtains
on display at the conference, I fell in love and just
knew we had to buy your product for Cannon.
At that time, the
volunteer organization at Cannon was really just starting
to make lots of money through fundraising efforts and
they were truly the Plantree champions. So logically,
they were the group I targeted and as their Director,
I had an "in" to making a pitch they could not refuse.
We started with four
curtains for our CCU and ED. The response was so positive
from staff, patients and volunteers, that we just had
to buy enough curtains to complete the ED. Then we needed
to add a curtain to the transfusion room and the CT
scanning room.
The staff is always
commenting on how amazed patients and families are to
see that beautiful curtain envelope them as they are
going through a health crisis. After all, that is what
all healthcare providers should be about, providing
an oasis of peace in the pain, even with something as
small as a privacy curtain.
Below are some of
the areas that have Sereneview® curtains installed.
