Highline
Medical Center is located in the Seattle suburb of Burien, near SeaTac Airport.
The community has a broad audience it serves, from the homes
along the shores of Pudget Sound to the dense neighborhoods
of airport service workers. It is also a Planetree affiliate
that serves as a model for "patient-centered care."
As soon as you walk into the front
lobby, you get a feeling you are in a hotel, not a hospital. The
Maternity department has private rooms that have all the support
equipment for the baby in the same room as the mother. There
is a bed for the fathers so that they can be there for both
the mother and baby. The noise level is minimized with sound
reducing materials and the lighting is in-direct giving a
warmer tone to the environment.
