Usually curtains are installed for patients comfort and that
staff and visitors are considered collateral benificiaries.
Not the case at Memorial Sloan-Kettering
Cancer Center's Critical
Care Unit. The Chief Surgeon of the Unit wanted to provide
a stress reliever for his staff and visitors.
After all, the majority of his patient's are unconciess most
of the time, or staring up at the ceiling.
"I've never heard laughter around here before the curtains
were installed." To give the patient's a quiet distraction,
the Unit installed ceiling tiles with our Reflecting
Pond image printed directly onto the
sheet-metal tiles.
Now everyone is happy and the stress and axiety levels have
been reduced, which was the objective.
